Training sessions for February and March 2020

Title: Developing the role of SENCo
Date: 14th February 2020 Time: 9.30-2.30pm (coffee from 9.00am)
Cost: £54 Target Audience: For established SENCo’s who want to explore how they develop this leadership role
The day will give plenty of time to discuss the importance of reflection – we will look at what is working well in your setting – what are the challenges and how to look at overcoming these – we will look at the qualities of a leader and how important these are in your role as a SENCo – we will explore how you manage and inspire others to follow the Graduated Approach.

Title: Following a Graduated Approach to supporting children with SEND
Date: 27th February 2020 Time: 9.30-12.15pm (coffee from 9.00am)
Cost: £30 Target Audience: SENCo’s
The session will explore what the Graduated Approach means for your setting and how you evidence that this is being followed by all staff – how this in turn impacts on referrals to outside agencies, funding or possible EHC requests – we will explore what Universal, Targeted and Specific provision might look like in your setting and how this will support educational planning.

Title: Using everyday resources to support children with SEND
Date: 3rd March 2020 Time: 9.30 – 12.15pm (coffee from 9.00am)
Cost: £30 Target Audience: all staff
The session will look at how cheap and affordable resources that you probably have stored at the back of cupboards can be used to support children with SEND. We will explore the importance of using these resources to develop Attention and Listening, Early Communication and Cognitive skills. Lots of the ideas will be suitable to support all children as they access the EYFS.

Title: Why is Listening and Attention so important? What can we do to support this area of the EYFS?
Date: 10th March 2020 Time: 9.30 – 12.15pm (coffee from 9.00am)
Cost: £30 Target Audience: SENCo’s and those supporting children with SEND
The session will look at how you identify that the child is delayed in this area and why it is important to work on this to support other areas of development. Activities and strategies will be discussed to show how you can support the child.

Title: Working with and supporting parents who have children with SEND
Date: 17th March 2020 Time: 9.30 – 12.15pm (coffee from 9.00am)
Cost: £30 Target Audience: SENCo’s and Practitioners
The session will look at the importance of working with parents – how to have that difficult conversation – when to have the conversation – looking at ways to support a good working relationship with clear co-production.

Title: How to support children with SEND – roles and responsibilities of staff
Date: 23rd March 2020 Time: 9.30 – 12.15pm (coffee from 9.00am)
Cost: £30 Target Audience: Staff new to working with children with SEND or are interested in the role of SENCo.
The session will look at the whole staff approach, the code of practice, roles and responsibilities, supporting the SENCo, target setting with some ideas and strategies to use to support children.

All Training sessions are at Lordswood Leisure Centre – refreshments, handouts and certificates of attendance will be provided.

Title: Support with Completing Additional Funding forms and submitting EHC requests
Date: 16th January 2020 Time: 9.30am - 12.15pm
Cost: £30 Target Audience: SENCo's
What the session will cover: How to complete the funding and EHC request forms, what evidence would be needed, how to work with parents to evidence co-production. Understanding when to make an application for funding or an EHC

Title: Role of SENCo
Date: 21st January 2020 Time: 9.30am - 2.30pm
Cost: £54 Target Audience: For those who are new to the role of SENCo, have recently taken on the role or are interested in what the role involves
What the session will cover: Roles and responsibilities for SENCo’s, how to identify children with SEND, the code of practice, following the Graduated Approach and working with parents

Title: Supporting children whose behaviour may at times be challenging
Date: 30th January 2020 Time: 9.30am - 2.30pm
Cost: £54 Target Audience: All staff
What will the session cover: Identifying challenges staff face, the function of behaviour, strategies / interventions of support and developing a whole staff approach

Title: Using everyday resources to support learning / exploring the enabling environment
Date: 3rd February 2020 Time: 9.30am - 2.30pm
Cost: £54 Target Audience: SENCo's/Practitioners
What will the session cover: A practical session looking at how everyday resources can be used in a variety of ways to support children with SEND. We will then look at the importance of the environment and how this can support children’s learning

Title: Developing the role of SENCo

What the session will cover: recognising the importance of reflection, identifying current challenges and planning to overcome these, identifying the qualities of a leader and how this supports your role as SENCo

Title: Following a Graduated Approach to supporting children with SEND
Date: 27th February 2020 Time: 9.30am - 12.15pm
Cost: £30 Target Audience: SENCo's
What the session will cover: supporting staff in their understanding of this approach, developing a model to show universal/targeted /specific support for children with SEND

The venue for all these sessions is Lordswood Leisure Centre. All sessions will include refreshments. A light lunch will be provided for whole day sessions. Handouts will be provided together with a certificate of attendance.
